Insert one pregnancy, two start-up businesses, one birth, seven days a week of work, stress, one business sold, one business booming, stress, no money, lots of money, some money, stress, no money, some money, the other business ending, a third business starting, stress, a second child conceived, a second child delivered and more pizza, pasta, chips and chocolate than one woman should ever endeavor to consume. Punctuate that run-on sentence with Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, Alli and the occasional fast and you've got a good idea of my life for the past six years.
So, here I was, a skinny girl trapped in the body of a mirror-dodging, double-chin-sporting, perma-black-wearing, Grimace-looking chunker. I was the fat Britney.
No one wants to be the fat Britney.
On my journey back to me, there were many ups and downs. (Hear: Bridget Jones narrating the successes and failures of her day as they center around what the scale flashes.) There were delicate and not-so delicate comments from concerned (concerned being a euphemism for slightly obnoxious) friends and family members as to what I was going to do about the weight. After my second kiddo was born, I was convinced that I was just going to be a slightly bigger gal. I knew that I'd lose some of the weight, but that 125 was a Holy Grail I thought would evade me until Kingdom Come.
